History
GKRO is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit organization. Established in 2007, GKRO holds a Department of NGO registration. GKRO is a part of the FSAC group. Is a good partner Of WFP In the southern provinces of Afghanistan, implemented WFP project in all southern Afghanistan. The major hub for managing all field and provincial offices is Kandahar. About 35 people worked with GKRO on the province of Nimroz's continuing general food distribution operation. GKRO collaborate closely with various UN agencies Especially with UNDP to provide humanitarian services to vulnerable populations and marginalized communities in Afghanistan, The organization was created in response to the necessity for developing a viable community development strategy for the war-torn communities in Afghanistan that are impacted socially, politically, economically, and most importantly, mentally. GKRO was founded to work in the areas of gender, human rights, civil rights, education, basic health care, and capacity building. GKRO works hard to alleviate poverty and to focus on the issues that Afghans face. GKRO views the health and education food security, livelihood Afghans as additional key goals, focuses on these areas, and makes a concerted effort to get donors to support initiatives that support Afghans' health and capacity building in addition projects that support their education at all levels. Since gender issues rank among the top challenges facing Afghan society, one of GKRO's major goals is to educate and raise awareness of women's rights among Afghans. GKRO recently started partnership with UNDP through a livelihood support program and looking forward for expanding such partnerships with all UN-Agencies.

GKRO's vision is to create a sustainable and prosperous future for Afghan vulnerable people, ensuring that they have access to essential resources and opportunities for growth and development. GKRO's focus is helping Afghanistan build and share solutions to the challenges of: Poverty Reduction and Achievement of the MDGs. Democratic Governance. Crisis Prevention and Recovery.
Mission:
- GKRO's mission is to empower and support Afghan vulnerable people by providing essential resources and services in the areas of health, education, food security, livelihood, and capacity building. This involves: Enhancing food security and livelihood opportunities for Afghan families through sustainable agriculture, vocational training, and economic empowerment initiatives strengthening the capacity of local communities and organizations to effectively address the needs of vulnerable populations and promote social inclusion.
Goal:
- The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.
- GKRO aims to bridge the gap between financial and development actors, promote inclusive growth focusing on societal vulnerabilities, encourage public and private investment, and strengthen governance and accountability mechanisms.
Objectives:
The organization's objectives include:
- Promoting Inclusive Growth: Supporting Afghanistan in reducing poverty and inequality by focusing on the vulnerabilities of their societies and removing structural barriers.
- Encouraging Investment: Encouraging public and private investment in sectors that improve access to markets for goods and services.
- Strengthening Public Investment: Promoting public investment in areas like health and education to increase the number of facilities and improve their quality.
- Incorporating SDGs into Policy: Incorporating the SDGs into the planning of public policies for a country's development, using the framework of targets and indicators provided.
- Strengthening Articulation between Sectors and Levels of Government: Strengthening the articulation between sectors and between levels of government, accompanied by a commitment to transparency to regain people's trust.
